Bitter air nipped at my throat,
Heat struggling to flee my coat
Maybe looking for another host.
Warily I continue to travel
Down the road to see what’s the matter
Inside of the barn where I heard a small sound
Of little bodies shuffling around.
As I open the door I’m greeted by hay
And snow tries to rush in, in spite of my haste.
I manage to keep out the callous wind trying to
Usher in cold, an unwelcome guest.
I stare at the stack and then peer under to see
Two eyes and one tiny heart beginning to beat.
That was a fun poem.
